        If someone made one out of cast aluminum, it is a great design. I would pay three times more for one that was made out of metal! Plastic mounting bracket cracked after a few months and the plastic reel distorts. Feeder hose kinks. It is cheap garbage...don't they test this stuff!!!

          I had two of these. Both cracked after a few months. Good: I like the slim design with the reel flat against the wall. Bad: The leading hose is deformed when bent to fit into the housing, reducing water flow. There are three screws to attach the frame to the wall. The one screw on top bears most of the weight and could not hold the weight of the hose and the water in it. The two screws at the bottom serve mainly to stabilize the reel. There should be two or more screws on top and the frame should be sturdier. Personally I'm staying away from this brand or plastic reels.

            Although the design has been efficiently improved to reduce resistance when spooling or un-spooling it is not designed to handle the weight of 100' of hose, OK for up to 50'. The plastic mounting frame housing needs to be stronger/thicker with multiple mounting points (not just 2, at 11 and 5 on the clock) around the spool, especially at the top where the weight and stress will prove it's strenght and longevity. This item is engineered to only last a short period of time, in less than 90 days of purchase the housing cracked at the top at the mounting screw where the stress point is. My previous reel had the mounting points (3 around the spool at 10, 2 and 6 on the clock) and lasted me over 15 yrs. The other same item, but for 125' of hose is designed the same and will suffer the same fate in time. Spend a little more money and get a metal or aluminum reel.

            Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend
